A few interesting cases...

The majority of our patients had a pterygium in one or both eyes. It is a non-cancerous growth of the clear, thin tissue that lays over the white part of the eye (conjunctiva). It is common in people with excess outdoor exposure to sunlight and wind, such as those who work outdoors. No treatment is required unless it blocks vision as in the case of this recipient. We referred her for surgical removal. Wearing protective glasses and a hat with a brim can prevent the condition from returning.

We saw quite a few cases of scarred corneas due to trauma. We gave this patient glasses so she can see out of her better seeing eye and for protection.

This recipient had a traumatic detached iris and a dense cataract.
