The Clinic Flow

Our Clinic Site: Chakkatatwittaya School.
We arrive at clinic every morning at 8am ready to give the gift of sight!


The first building of our clinic that has Registration, Visual Acuity, Dilation and Auto-Refractor Stations.


Recipients keep cool under these tents while they wait to enter the clinic.
Entertainment is usually provided by the local hosts.

Volunteers register our recipients into the clinic at the Registration Station.


The Visual Acuity Station: Volunteers measure visual acuities (how well a person sees).


A volunteer nurse instills drops in a recipient's eyes to dilate (open) the pupils in order for the doctor to examine the back of the eyes.

Our Lead Doctor, Dr. Lee examines the eyes for cataracts, glaucoma, macular degeneration and other eye conditions with a Slit-Lamp Biomicroscope. Nice bar stool!


Dr. Cindy Cieszko examines the back of the eyes thoroughly
with Binocular Indirect Ophthalmoscopy.


Volunteers help Dr. Cindy screen for glaucoma with a Non-Contact Tonometer.


The Doctor Referral Station: Patients are referred for treatment
of cataracts, glaucoma, pterygium and other eye conditions.

In this special case, Dr. Dave Gill uses the phoropter to determine
an accurate eyeglass prescription.


Cathy Hart uses a hand-held Auto-Refractor to determine an eyeglass prescription for the doctor if we are unable to get an initial reading at the Auto-Refractor Station.

Dr. Sonya Patel performs retinoscopy to determine a recipient's eyeglass prescription.

using Skioscopy Bars (mini lens powers on a bar).


Dr. Sonya and Dr. Joyce write the best possible eyeglass prescription
at the Rx Writing Station.
